PAULA NAPPER

Lead Designer & founder of Chalcot

Lead Designer Paula set up a garden design business in 2016 after studying for a professional diploma at Plumpton College under Nigel Phillips FSGD. Fulfilling a long held dream to create a show garden, Paula entered the RHS Hampton Court Place Flower Show and won a gold medal for ‘The Lavender Garden’, propelling the design business forward with several clients around London and the South East. PAULA NAPPER  has since designed a number of domestic gardens, roof terraces, balconies and new build developments. In 2018 Paula furthered her studies at The London College of Garden Design with acclaimed designer Andrew Wilson FSGD. Based at Kew Botanic Gardens, she achieved another design diploma and gained invaluable knowledge of working with CAD to produce 3D visuals, and increased plant knowledge thanks to the varied species being nurtured there.

At Chalcot we understand that a garden makeover will need input from a number of different experts , and the skill and knowledge of each is crucial to its success. We don’t underestimate the value of teamwork and find the best people for the job.

Our style has evolved into less formal, naturalistic but refined landscapes that make a house feel settled in to its surroundings whatever its age. To be interesting and beautiful a garden needs a good balance of hard and soft textures, to create a visual journey and most importantly, simplicity. Getting to the heart of your requirements as a client and stripping away unessential features and meaningless 'clutter' is crucial to giving you a garden that is enticing, accessible and offers respite from a busy life.

We explore innovative ideas and materials to bring a design element that is unique to each client. We use quality materials that have longevity and are therefore kinder to the planet. We are very conscious that landscapes ultimately belong to nature and our ethos will always be to promote the local ecology by enhancing biodiversity and encouraging wildlife.
